"International day of Forest"

Objective: The main objective of this program is “to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests”.

Outcome:

·Participants understood the importance of forests and ecosystems.

·Participants got motivation to contribute to better nature.

·Participants understood their role and responsibility in preserving the natural resources.

Report or Overall Summary:

The NCC unit of St. Francis College conducted a tree plantation campaign on the occasion of “International day of Forest” on 21st March 2024 at Vidya Vikas Government High School, Begur. Around 8 varieties of 25 different plant saplings were brought from the forest department nursery.

Sri. C Lokesh, BJP leader and M Narayana Gowda, president of Vidya Vikas GHS, Begur were guests for the program. Sri. M Narayana Gowda highlighted on importance of maintaining self-discipline, and time management and Sri C Lokesh spoke on importance of forests and role of youth in preserving natural resources for our future generations.

Event started with planting a sapling by guests and other dignitaries. Later, all the NCC volunteers planted all the sapling, watered and handed over to school volunteers for future care. The purpose of the program was to “impart awareness of the importance of forests and role of forests in balancing ecosystem and role of youth, organisations in preserving nature and natural resources, promoting the growth of nature and finally make it accessible for the future generations.  Whole event was satisfying and volunteers really understood the significance of the day
