Objectives :
1. To engage the students in anti-drug activities and educating them about the ill-effects.
2. To motivate students to become volunteers of anti-drug activities in their life.

Outcome :
1. Students demonstrate a deeper understanding of the risks and consequences of drug use.
2.Students develop negative attitudes towards drug use astrong support for anti-drug initiatives.

With the objective to spread awareness about the ill-effects of drug abuse, the Anti Drug Cell of St Francis College in association with Youth Red Cross Unit organized an awareness programme for first year students and Youth Red Cross members on December 11, 2023. The programme titled "Nature & Effects of Drug Abuse & Prophylactics," aimed to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse and thereby make them aware about the preventive strategies. The programme was organised in the Seminar Hall, II floor. 156 students attended the programme. The session started at 11:45 am. Ms. Sinchana formally welcomed the dignitaries, staff members and the students. Principal D.R.N. Subba Rao, Dr. Kulkarni, members of the Anti Drug Cell and Youth Red Cross Unit graced the event with their presence.

Prof. H.K. Moulesh was the guest speaker at the event. In his talk, he discussed the reasons why people get addicted to drugs, the short-term and long-term impact of drug abuse on physical and mental health, and preventive strategies to avoid substance abuse.

Prof. Moulesh gave an informative talk for an hour, educating them on the nuances of drug abuse and addiction. At the end of the session he addressed queries by students regarding ways to identify signs of drug addiction and how to support someone going through substance abuse.

The students found the session very informative and useful. They gave positive feedback about the session. The program concluded at 12:45 pm with a vote of thanks by Mr.Kavin.
