• Name of the Event: BREEZE BATTLE
• Date:6th November 2024
• Time: 1:30 p.m.
• Venue:6th floor Mock Aircraft
• Number of Participants:36
• Event Coordinator: Ms. Shalin Samuel
The Breeze Battle event, organized by the Aviatrix Club, was designed as a role-playing simulation aimed at providing participants with an immersive experience in aviation-related challenges. By engaging students in realistic, high-pressure scenarios, the event allowed participants to step into various roles within the aviation industry, such as pilots, air traffic controllers, cabin crew, and ground crew. The objective was not only to enhance students' knowledge of aviation but also to help them develop critical life skills such as problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and decision-making.
The role-play activities centered on practical applications of aviation theory, preparing participants for real-world situations that demand both technical expertise and soft skills. The ultimate goal was to improve the participants' teamwork abilities, situational awareness, and crisis management capabilities, which are essential in the aviation industry. The learning outcomes of the Breeze Battle event were multifaceted. Primarily, the event aimed to provide participants with the following:
1. Enhanced Communication Skills: Participants needed to communicate clearly and effectively, whether coordinating with other team members or relaying critical information in high-pressure scenarios.
2. Teamwork and Coordination: Aviation operations depend on the smooth coordination of multiple roles. This event allowed participants to experience firsthand how important it is for various teams to work together seamlessly, whether it be between pilots and air traffic control, cabin crew and passengers, or ground staff and flight crews.
3. Critical Thinking: The event placed students in complex and often stressful scenarios, requiring them to think quickly and make decisions based on limited information, mimicking real-life aviation emergencies.
4. Situational Awareness: Participants had to maintain an understanding of their environment, anticipate potential issues, and act accordingly to ensure safety and efficiency.
By participating in the event, students were also expected to refine their leadership and problem- solving skills in a collaborative environment. These learning outcomes were essential for preparing students to handle the dynamic, multifaceted nature of aviation operations.
Overall Summary:
The Breeze Battle was an interactive and challenging event that simulated real-world aviation situations in a controlled, immersive environment. Over the course of the event, 36 participants took on various roles, such as pilots, air traffic controllers, cabin crew, and ground staff, to tackle a series of aviation-related scenarios. These scenarios ranged from emergency landings and in-flight emergencies to routine operational challenges, requiring participants to act quickly and decisively.
The primary aim of the event was to provide a hands-on learning experience where participants could put their theoretical knowledge of aviation into practice while developing key soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. By simulating realistic aviation situations, students were able to experience the dynamics of collaboration between various aviation roles. For instance, the pilots communicated with air traffic controllers to navigate through a simulated airspace, while cabin crew worked with ground staff to prepare for an emergency landing.
Scenario Breakdown:
• Emergency Landing Simulation: One of the key scenarios involved simulating an emergency landing. The pilots had to quickly assess the situation, communicate with air traffic control, and make decisions that would minimize the risk to passengers and crew. The air
traffic controllers played a crucial role in guiding the pilots and clearing the airspace for a safe landing. Meanwhile, cabin crew members worked together to prepare passengers for the emergency situation and ensure their safety.
• In-Flight Emergency: Another simulation revolved around handling an in-flight medical emergency. The cabin crew was responsible for managing the situation by coordinating with the cockpit crew, ensuring that the appropriate medical response was initiated, and keeping
passengers calm during the emergency.
• Air Traffic Control Communication: Participants assuming the role of air traffic controllers were tasked with managing the flow of air traffic, communicating with pilots, and ensuring that aircraft were directed safely and efficiently.
Conclusion:
The Breeze Battle event provided an enriching and immersive learning experience for all participants. By role-playing realistic aviation scenarios, students were able to experience the dynamic and high-pressure environment of the aviation industry. The event fostered critical
thinking, enhanced communication skills, and promoted teamwork—all essential qualities for anyone aspiring to work in aviation. Furthermore, it offered valuable insight into the complexities of aviation operations and underscored the importance of collaboration and clear communication in ensuring safety and efficiency. Ultimately, the event successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, giving students a deeper understanding of the aviation industry and better preparing them for future careers in the field.
