Objectives :
The main objective of this program was “to promote road safety measures and following traffic rules and regulations there by developing traffic discipline to prevent road accidents.

Outcomes:
• Participants were educated about the significance of following road safety practices like wearing seat belts, avoiding road rage driving, wearing helmets, and abstaining from drunk driving.
• People were encouraged to develop traffic discipline to prevent road accidents.


The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, provides a platform to celebrate National Road Safety Week every year. This significant week is observed from January 11 to 17 to create awareness around road safety. National Road Safety Week aims to educate the public about the perils of reckless or irresponsible driving. Bangalore Traffic Police and Transport department of government of Karnataka organised a “Road Safety Week 2024” inaugural program at Sri Kanteerava stadium on 13th Jan 2024. The event will be organised by conducting various awareness programs all over the state from 15th Jan to 14th Feb 2024.

Audugodi traffic police station staff escorted 120 students (NCC, NSS, ISR & YRC volunteers) from St. Francis College to Sri. Kanteerava stadium. The program was started in March past where NCC cadets of St Francis Degree College have taken part along with 16 other school and college teams. All the participants have taken the pledge on road safety guidelines to be followed. The chief guest of the event Sri. Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister of Karnataka inaugurated the programme in front of approx. 9000 student participants who came from different schools and colleges from various regions of the Bangalore city. Later, Sri. D K Shivakumar, Deputy C M and Dr. G Parameshwar, minister of Home affairs, Govt. of Karnataka, spoke about new initiatives taken up by the government to control traffic in the state and do’s and don’ts while driving. They have also mentioned about the AI application to control and maintain the traffic.

All the volunteers of the college were given participation certificates by Audugodi traffic police station staff. The NCC Cadets have also taken part in the E-Pledge campaign initiated by Govt. of Karnataka for safer roads to unlock the road safety revolution and earned certificates.

Program was celebrated by organizing various folk dances, Yoga Performance from various teams and the NCC cadets also performed Bhoota Kola and Kamsale. The college students were given awards for their performances in various fields by Hamsa Jyothi Trust and DYES Bangalore. The NCC cadets JUO K Naveen and CQMS Anusha S were awarded in the field of overall performance and sports respectively. This day was meant for the youngsters which states today's generation is tomorrow's future.
