The Directorate of Physical Education, Bengaluru City University, Bengaluru in association with St. Francis College, Koramangala, Bengaluru had organised South Zone Inter-University Kabaddi (Men) Tournament- 2022 from 07th to 10th December 2022.

The tournament was inaugurated by Prof.Lingaraja Gandhi, Vice Chancellor, Bengaluru City University, in presence of Bro. Antony, Director, St. Francis College, Koramangala on 7th December 2022. One Hundred twelve (112) south-zone (from Karnataka, Andra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry) universities Kabaddi teams had given entry for this tournament and one hundred (100) teams had reported for participation in the four days event.

The tournament was conducted at St. Francis College, Koramangala, in four courts (Kabaddi mat) of international standards, which was appreciated by all the players, managers, coaches and officials. Floodlight facility was also there to complete each day schedule in time. Adequate transport facilities were made from ST. Francis College, Koramangala from KSR railway station, Majestic bus stand, Yashwantapura railway station and KR Puram railway station to match venue (St. Francis College, Koramangala). All the team players were accommodated at St. Francis College building and Coaches, Managers & Officials were accommodated at different lodges/guest houses located at HSR Layout, Begur and Silkboard. Food for all the team manager, coaches & officials was provided at free of cost throughout the tournament. The Central & State Govt. Covid-19 protocol were strictly followed during the tournament.

The format of the tournament was knock-out cum league according to AIU rules under day and flood light. All the matches were officiated by technical officials of Karnataka State Amateur Kabaddi Association.
Vels University won the South Zone Inter-University Kabaddi (Men) Tournament 2022.

Mangalore University, MangalaGangotri, SRM University & University of Mysore secured second, third & fourth position respectively. All the winners were awarded with cash prize of 15,000/-, 10,000/-, 7,000/- & 5,000/- according to their position in the tournament. Prof.Lingaraja Gandhi, Vice Chancellor, Bengaluru City University distributed the prizes to the winners on 10th December 2022 on valedictory function.
